Professional Interests

  • Volunteering & Charitable Work

Kathy’s commitment to volunteering began in the summer of 1974 when she was 15 years old. She volunteered every Saturday for a local children’s home located in Bethany, Oklahoma. Her involvement with the Deaf community began in Oklahoma City in 1985 where she volunteered to serve in the Deaf ministry at her church.

  • Deaf Community Involvement

Kathy is committed to her involvement in the Deaf community of the Valley of the Sun. She believes there is no better teacher than native language users to further improve her skills. Kathy has made many friends in the local Deaf community who have provided immeasurable support and guidance throughout her career.

  • Mentoring

One of Kathy’s goals is to give back to the profession in tangible ways through mentoring to students of interpreting and newly graduated interpreters navigating their way through this sometimes complex profession.
